Mac Os X Installer Download

Those who are on the public beta program can now download macOS Monterey via the Software Update portion of the System Preferences app, assuming they have the correct beta profile installed. Apple gives public beta testers the chance to try macOS, iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, and watchOS betas out ahead of public release, all of which can be installed. Click the Download macOS Sierra public beta access utility button. Open the file from your Downloads window. Double-click the package to run the installer. When the installer is finished downloading, the Mac App Store will automatically open to the Updates section.

OS X Puma Beta was the next update to Mac OS X. This time around, Apple focused on improving performance and removing bugs. Overall, it was a much more refined operating system compared to Cheetah and Windows XP.

Mac OS X Kodiak 10.0 Betas

OS X 'Kodiak' Beta was the first glimpse into what Apple had planned for the next decade. It offered Developers helpful insights into how they needed to style their applications. In the final beta, they renamed the project to its public name, Cheetah.

  • International English Mac OS 9.0 or higher
  • Any PowerPC-based Apple computer with at least 32 MB of physical RAM, with virtual memory set to at least 64 MB.
    Note: Third party PowerPC upgrade cards are not supported

Compatibility Information:

Mac OS 9.1 and Mac OS X Public Beta - Important: The Mac OS X Public Beta and Mac OS 9.1 are not compatible. If you install Mac OS 9.1, the Classic environment in the Mac OS X Public Beta will no longer function.

Apple recognizes that for many customers, downloading the update may not be convenient. Apple is offering the Mac OS 9 to Mac OS 9.1 Software Update program to allow customers who own any version of Mac OS 9 to obtain the Mac OS 9.1 full install CD. Details and an order form are available at
